We were delighted to be joined by a distinguished expert panel of Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement senior leaders:

– Alper Kucuk, Director General for International Affairs and Migration Services, Türk Kızılay;
– Caroline Holt, Director – Disaster, Climate and Crises, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – IFRC;
– Kazi Shofiqul Azam, Secretary General, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).

The panel was chaired by David Peppiatt, Director of Humanitarian Cash Assistance, British Red Cross.

The panelists highlighted the centrality of advocacy and engagement with governments in the Movement’s use of CVA in humanitarian response, share experiences and lessons learned from Bangladesh and Türkiye, reflected on the opportunities and risks of close collaboration with governments, and discussed linkages between humanitarian CVA and national social protection systems from an advocacy perspective.
