Disability Inclusive Cash and Voucher Assistance: Live Sessions

27 August-3 September 2024

Online 8:00 Washington DC / 14:00 Geneva / 19:00 Bangkok

Application deadline: 29 July 2024

Background

Persons with disabilities are incredibly diverse, with unique impairments and identities. Their challenges are often intersectional, influenced by factors like gender, age, and type of disability. These challenges must be considered early in a Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) humanitarian response programme, otherwise people with disabilities could be left behind or even wrongly impacted.

Moreover, until now, there’s been a crucial gap in training material addressing disability inclusion within CVA, overlooking the specific needs, risks, and barriers that people with disabilities face to receive cash assistance. In response to this scenario, CBM International, African Disability Forum, and the CALP Network joined forces to develop the first-ever Disability Inclusive Cash and Voucher Assistance E-Learning Course.

To continue advancing disability inclusion, CBM, Humanity and Inclusion (HI) and CALP,  with contributions from Kiengu Women Challenged to Challenge Kenya, will run two live sessions to build on the e-learning course. These two online active learning events will take place on August 27th and September 3rd. Participants will be able to work through their real challenges related to disability-inclusive CVA and work together on finding solutions.

Who can apply to attend the live sessions?

These sessions will be open to those who have completed the Disability Inclusive Cash and Voucher Assistance E-Learning Course and desire to deepen their understanding of this topic.  Haven’t taken the course? Work through the e-learning first, and then apply to attend the live sessions.

Session Aims

By joining these two sessions, participants will consolidate their learning from the online course, deepen their reflection on selected aspects of the case studies’ scenario of the course, and work on the application of learnings based on practical challenges from their program work.

More specifically, on the topic of disability inclusive CVA, these live sessions will:

  • Create a space to exchange experiences and challenges among participants, drawing on their professional experiences in similar contexts.
  • Motivate participants to share their plans on the topic.
  • Showcase available resources that can be useful in day-to-day work.
  • Provide live responses to questions and comments.
  • Host a ‘clinic’ session where organizations can present specific challenges in their CVA-related work for joint problem-solving and innovation.

Participants who attend both sessions will receive a certificate of attendance.
