CALP Online: Core CVA Skills for Programme Staff Course – East and Southern African regional staff

About the Course
This course is structured around the project cycle and covers all of the key skills required to design, implement and monitor cash and voucher assistance. The course is focused on a technical/programmatic perspective, and incorporates examples and case studies from multiple sectors.

Course Aim
To support participants to be able integrate CVA into the design, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian programming.

Objectives
– Understand how CVA is guided by key policies, standards and guidelines.
– Describe how CVA needs to be integrated into role of different teams throughout the project cycle.
– Explain what assessment information is needed to inform response analysis.
– Use market information to inform modality choice.
– Understand how CVA can contribute to response objectives.
– Identify the information needed for monitoring and evaluation of CVA
– Identify how collaboration and coordination support quality CVA.

Who is this course for?
This course is for programme staff responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring cash transfer programmes. This group might include Programme Managers; Programme Officers; Technical Specialists from any sector (e.g.food security, livelihoods, WASH, Health, Shelter), MEAL Specialists.

How is the course delivered?
This course will be delivered remotely (online) using a range of methods including videos, e-learning, offline written tasks, and facilitated interactive online workshops.

How long is the course?
This course will start on 6th September and will last for 12 weeks. As a learner you will be expected to spend approximately 3 hours a week on this course. There are 9 weeks of learning with 3 check-in weeks built in for you to catch up on course work. It is equivalent to a 5-day face to face training in terms of learner time.

The majority of learning is self-directed, meaning that you can watch the videos and complete the e-learnings at any time that suits you, however attendance at the 6 facilitated online workshops is essential in order to complete the course and gain your certificate. The dates and times of these workshops will be confirmed once your registration has been completed and you have been accepted onto the course, however the tentative dates are as follows:

Workshop 1 – Tuesday 7th September
Workshop 2 – Tuesday 21st September
Workshop 3 – Tuesday 12th October
Workshop 4 – Tuesday 2nd November
Workshop 5 – Tuesday 16th November
Workshop 6 – Tuesday 23rd November
